When the Sale Starts and What the Offers Are
The Great Indian Festival 2026 opens on 8 October 2026 (About Amazon India, retrieved 24 September 2026). Amazon has announced two offers that apply across the sale:
- 10% instant discount on SBI credit and debit cards, including EMI transactions. This is the one that matters most for equipment.
- Up to 10% extra for Prime members on select purchases (FoneArena, 21 September 2026).
At the time of writing, Amazon's announcement gave neither an end date nor a time for any Prime early-access window. Check the Amazon app in the first week of October for both.
Two things the headline "10%" does not tell you, and both change the arithmetic. Bank offers on Amazon sales normally carry a maximum discount per card and sometimes a minimum order value. The 2026 terms for either were not in the announcement. Read the offer terms on the product page before assuming you will get the full 10%. On a ₹13,000 walking pad, a low cap is the difference between saving ₹1,300 and saving a few hundred.
Why the Sale Matters More for Expensive Equipment
A percentage discount is worth the most on the most expensive thing you were going to buy anyway. That sounds obvious, but it runs against how most people shop a sale: they fill the cart with ₹300–800 accessories because those feel like the safe buys.
The practical rule: buy the big item in the sale and the small items whenever you need them. A ₹50 saving on a band set is not worth waiting two weeks for, or worth buying something you would not otherwise have bought. A ₹1,300 saving on a walking pad is worth planning around.
Is "70% Off" a Real Discount?
Usually not in the way it looks, because the discount is measured against MRP. Under the Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules, 2011, MRP is defined as the maximum price at which a packaged product may be sold, inclusive of all taxes (Rules, 2011, Rule 2(m)). Selling above it is an offence. Selling below it is completely legal, and the rules do not require the MRP to be anywhere near the price anyone actually charges.
So a seller can print an MRP of ₹9,999 on a bench that has sold for around ₹4,000 all year. On sale day, ₹3,999 shows up as "60% off", even though the real saving against the price you could have paid last month is a couple of hundred rupees.
This is not a made-up problem. On 24 September 2026, two weeks before the sale, Lifelong's own online store listed the walking pad recommended below at ₹12,499 against a crossed-out ₹49,999 (Lifelong Online, retrieved 24 September 2026). That is a 75% discount label on an ordinary weekday. Whatever percentage the sale shows, the ₹49,999 tells you nothing. The price it normally sells for is the only number to compare against.
The fix takes two minutes. Look up the product's price history before the sale, not during it.
- Use a price-history tool that covers amazon.in. On a phone, which is how most people shop the sale, tap Share on the product in the Amazon app, copy the link, and paste it into the search box on PriceHistory's website or app. PriceHistory covers Amazon India and Flipkart and has Android and iOS apps (PriceHistory). On a laptop, the Keepa browser extension adds a price chart directly under the product on amazon.in, and India is one of its supported Amazon marketplaces (Keepa).
- Note today's price for everything on your list. The price in the last week of September is your honest benchmark.
- On sale day, compare the sale price with that benchmark, not with the MRP. If the sale price plus the bank offer is not clearly below what you noted, there is no real deal, and you can buy after the rush with better delivery slots.
Reading this after the sale has started? You have missed the chance to note a pre-sale price, but the price-history chart still gives you one. Open the chart, look at the lowest price in the last 90 days, and treat that as the price to beat. A sale price at or below that 90-day low is a real deal. A sale price well above it means the discount is mostly MRP arithmetic, and waiting costs you nothing.
A timer and a stock counter are not evidence either. The Central Consumer Protection Authority issued the Guidelines for Prevention and Regulation of Dark Patterns on 30 November 2023, listing 13 banned patterns, and false urgency is one of them (PIB, Government of India). The Guidelines define it as creating or implying a false sense of urgency or scarcity to mislead a user into immediately taking an action which may result in a purchase, including falsely showing stock as more limited than it is (Annexure 1, as reproduced by Trilegal). On 7 June 2025 the Authority told every e-commerce platform to self-audit for these patterns within three months (Department of Consumer Affairs). Treat a countdown as marketing, not information, and decide on price history.

Walking pad: the purchase where the sale matters most
A walking pad is the most expensive thing on this list and the one where the bank offer is worth the most. It is also the easiest to buy wrong, because the motor figure on the box is a peak rating. Adjustable dumbbells: buy the kind you can extend
The decision here is the mechanism, not the brand. Spin-lock sets are slow to change but extendable: you buy only the weight you need now and add plates for years. Dial sets are fast, cost around ₹17,000–18,000 for a 24 kg pair, and have a fixed ceiling you cannot raise.
